Description
A widower’s struggle with grief and faith in the face of his wife’s cancer
When suffering hits, the question we so often ask is ‘why?’. Why me, why us, why now? Why would God allow this to happen? When death’s insidious tendrils creep into our families, our theoretical answers can crumble in the face of reality. Reaching for the End of Why is one man’s struggle with these questions.
Tom Courtney and his wife, Jan, were planning a trip to South Africa to celebrate their fortieth wedding anniversary when a series of minor illnesses postponed their trip. Instead, just days after their anniversary, they found themselves sitting in a bland hospital room, receiving awful news. Jan had ovarian cancer.
Wrestling with God’s apparent silence, Tom’s real–time lament is gut–wrenching. His honesty in the face of perplexity and turmoil will ring true with anyone who has searched for answers to questions that seem unanswerable.
Journey with him through this dark valley and see how lament and faith work together. Sometimes there are no easy answers to why things happen, but what God provides is the peace that passes all understanding we truly need.
