Description
Eryl Davies’ short guide to mentoring answers all the most common questions people have about being a mentor. Including the biblical examples of Jesus and Paul, Davies shows how a mentoring relationship is a close, real–life relationship that can supply us with the wisdom and encouragement we need. A mentor helps to apply biblical wisdom to family and work tensions, suffering, disappointments, difficult choices, bereavement, personal development, spiritual growth.
Davies also includes testimonies from a number of people who have been mentored and are mentoring others, application questions to consider at the end of each chapter, as well as a reading list to examine how other Christians have actively mentored others.
Endorsements
In our day of social media ‘influencers’ (many inexperienced and undignified), Davies pulls us back to Christian influencing in and for the sake holiness, wisdom, character and experience. Written by a true mentor, Davies practically models what he writes; chiefly as he calls us to listen to others as the Lord Jesus did. This book is an inspirational demonstration of the power of mentoring in the life of the Church.
Natalie Brand
Bible teacher and author of ‘Priscilla, Where Are You? A Call to Joyful Theology’
… Davies advocates prayer–driven, self–sacrificial, personal investment. The spiritual power of this model can be traced to a simple principle – it calls on mentors to be Christ–like so that their mentees can grow in Christ–likeness.

Writing out of his own experience and out of the experience of many other Christians whose stories are shared in this book, Dr Davies encourages us to consider whether the Lord may be calling us to a mentoring role, whether in our own local community, or in the broader life of the Christian Church today.
Hector Morrison
Principal, Highland Theological College, Dingwall
Though largely unseen and likely under–utilised, mentoring is a highly valuable ministry. It is warmly explained and commended by Eryl and exemplified by those he gives voice to in this very helpful book.
Jonny Raine

This book is authentic and is the fruit of a lifetime Dr Davies has spent mentoring others, including myself. I was left challenged to deepen my faith, encouraged to mentor others, and equipped with how to do so well. Highly recommended.
