Description

As a new Christian it is such a relief to know that your sin has been forgiven. But it doesn't stop there as you will want to continue to grow in your faith in Christ. In this classic book, co-published with Bryntirion Press, Peter Jeffery suggests that in order to understand the fullness of your salvation you must first understand what Christ has done for you. Peter acknowledges that in this Christian life, there will be obstacles to overcome and he provides you with clear Scriptural guidelines for helping you as a new believer to establish your faith. Subjects covered in this helpful book include: The local church, worship, the value of the Bible, witnessing, assurance, backsliding, guidance, work, marriage, money, drugs, and peer pressure.

Endorsements

"I am thankful to God that Peter Jeffery's Walk Worthy is back in print. I have used it for more than 15 years with great profit to many, beginning with my own teenagers. I wish I had this book when I was converted in college. When the new birth changes your life, so many things need to be re-thought and re-evaluated.... These and many more issues are addressed which any young Christian of any age will have to deal with, sooner or later. I plan to use it with all our converts and young, growing Christians."

Here we have a helpful, practical guide, which is particularly written for the new Christian who seeks to grow and mature in their faith. Peter Jeffery starts by outlining what happens when a person becomes a Christian, and explains some key words and expressions such as justification and sanctification. In doing so he clears up some of the misunderstandings associated with those teachings. He then gives the reader guidelines for Bible study, prayer and being part of a local church. Further, he gives advice for dealing with some difficult issues such as coping with trials, temptations and failure in the Christian life. He also looks at being an effective witness for Christ, and knowing how God guides the Christian. The book concludes with some helpful chapters on tricky issues for the Christian, such as handling money, marriage and relationships, and drugs.
This is a book, which is very simply written with short, easy to read chapters. It is primarily for those who have come to a personal faith in Jesus Christ as their Saviour and will be particularly helpful for new Christians. However, it also has much helpful teaching for those who have been in the faith for some time, and who may be in need of a refresher course!

Andrew Young, Fraserburgh
