Read moreHe entered heaven’s gates at twenty–five, before he journeyed to the mission field in China that he intended for his life’s work; yet his name was one known, and mourned, around the world. This points to something rare, and inspiring, in the annals of Christian history. His place in the hearts of those who knew him sprang not from any thought of what might have been, but rather, and tellingly, from who he had been.
So, to mark his birthday on 1 November, we look to the life of William Borden.

A dear friend of mine—whom my kids call Uncle James—is a missionary in Vietnam. When I first met James, he was on furlough in the States, visiting his aging mother. How did he spend his time while on furlough? He bunked at a nearby homeless shelter, living among the inner–city homeless in order to share the gospel with them. We have had a number of requests from children’s workers, bookstore owners and teachers to make video readings of our children’s books available online for the kids (and adults) that they’re not able to see in person. We want to support people in whatever ways we can by making good children’s literature accessible to as many people as possible.
