BISAC – REL023000
There are around 8,000 people incarcerated in Scotland. For 40 years, Prison Fellowship Scotland has been working with prisoners and their families, providing practical help and care, and sharing the good news about Jesus. 40 Years Behind Bars tells the stories of the work of Prison Fellowship Scotland, from the perspective of the people closest to the work – prisoners, volunteers and prison workers, amongst others.
Prison Fellowship Scotland
Prison Fellowship Scotland is an organisation working within Scotland’s prisons to bring support, restoration and hope to prisoners and their families.

What a treat to listen to many stories of God’s work. Grace is always amazing but reading accounts like these leads one to the conclusion that some testimonies highlight more than others the power of sin to ruin but where sin did abound, grace does much more abound.

Mission Director, Free Church of Scotland, Edinburgh
The voices of the various parties in this book tell a powerful story of God’s love and grace and the difference His love and grace make. Listen for yourself and be inspired.

… be aware that these voices and stories might just turn your world view upside down, make you thinking differently about faith and restorative justice and perhaps even transform you, just like the stories of Jesus do.

This is an informative book marking the first forty years of the work of Prison Fellowship Scotland. I found it encouraging that a hundred volunteers, two staff and a number of local prayer groups support this ministry to 8,000 prisoners in Scottish prisons. Prisoners are hearing of Christ with some now trusting in Christ.
