Description
We all want, and need, to love and to be loved. We are made in the image of God, who is love. Healthy loving is at the very heart of true human flourishing, but human life is full of love gone wrong – marriages break down, relationships with family members are strained, loneliness is an ever–increasing problem. This book delves into what the Bible has to say on relationships – friendship, love, marriage, sex and family – and how to guard them and keep them

All of us live in a network of relationships that have been affected by the fall. William Philip draws on his experience as doctor, pastor, father and husband not only to give us a diagnosis but also to show us that – through the Holy Spirit – God is working to transform and renew every aspect of our lives. He is changing our relationships and changing us through our relationships. This book is accessible, engaging and biblically grounded and I wholeheartedly recommend it.
Philip Stewart
Trained first as a physician and now entrusted with the care of souls, the author is uniquely placed to address matters healthy and holy. Providing both diagnosis and cure, he shows how an understanding of God’s love for us lays the foundation for loving and being loved.

Here is realistic, relevant and refreshing application of clear biblical truths from an author who knows the grace received in gospel and the mess and angst of daily life.

This is a compassionate and courageous book that has both stretched and deepened my understanding of what God intends for our good. I cannot think of a better gift for people today who are being targeted by so many unhelpful ideas than this clear–sighted and compact book on ‘aspects of love’ which God both plans and delivers.

Former Minister, St Thomas’ Anglican Church, Sydney, Australia
In an age of individualism with the resultant societal crises arising from family and relational breakdown, Dr Philip’s book, Aspects of Love, based on biblically inspired truths about human relationships, could not be better timed to help people navigate the swirling currents of contemporary political correctness. Those who read it will be strengthened in being light in a darkening world. I heartedly commend it.

I will be eternally grateful for Willie’s clarity of thought, concern for truth, and fatherly care for my husband and I as we navigated friendship, marriage, and the desire for children. As members of the Tron Church we benefited immeasurably from hearing Willie’s preaching on these issues. Just as much, we benefited from having a place at Willie and Rebecca’s dinner table, where we could discuss how the truth of the scriptures rubs into the grain of every day life. His teaching (and sometimes our shared tears, in the harder times) gave us a greater confidence is the Lord’s kindness and wisdom. If you don’t have that invite to dinner, this book will serve as an excellent consolation prize!

… here is a warm–hearted, unapologetically biblical guide to navigating the minefield of human relationships. Its refreshing honesty and candid application of the Bible’s teaching to the real issues behind a host of contemporary questions make it stand out as a key resource for Christian people, at every stage of life.

This is such a good book! Here is a pastor’s heart, rooted deeply in scripture, informed by careful reading of scholarship, earthed in the realities of the lives of men and women. It is wide–ranging in its scope, balanced in its judgements on uncertain matters, always warm and helpful. I commend it warmly.

William Philip is one of our best Bible teachers in the UK, and this is a wonderfully helpful book. Excellent on the biblical text, but also full of warm, pastoral common sense, it will be enormous help to us all in navigating the minefields of relationships. A book to get, read, use, give away and be thankful for!
