Description

Prof R. A Finlayson was one of the most influential figures in the Free Church of Scotland in the twentieth century. As a preacher, conference speaker, editor of the monthly editor of the Monthly Record and as a professor of Systematic Theology at the Free Church college he exercised a fruitful ministry within and beyond his own denomination.

He wrote over a thousand articles, 32 of which are in this volume. They are divided into 3 sections: General Theology, Issues Facing Evangelicals and The Westminster Confession.

Endorsements

This is a penetrating and forthright presentation of central truth, highlighting the author's sharp intellect and ability to make the Bible plain. These studies gleaned from the ministry of R A Finlayson now enable a new generation to benefit from a man who . . . 'was something of a legend in his own time'.

CLC Book Reviews

A wide range of topics is covered from a thoroughly biblical perspective and in a clear, accessible style... This book is a rich feast to nourish the people of God.

David McKay
Professor of Systematic Theology, Ethics and Apologetics, Reformed Theological College, Belfast, Northern Ireland

"Christian Focus are to be warmly congratulated on the publication of this useful and stimulating volume...The articles are fairly ‘meaty', which is not surprising since Finlayson was not only a preacher and pastor but principally a theologian...There is much spiritual profit to be obtained from this volume...This is an excellent book which requires careful study."

Gareth Burke, Evangelical Presbyterian

"Conversion, however, is not an end in itself, as we so often seem to think; it is only the beginning....." R.A. Finlayson, covers in this statement; personal sanctification, Church life and witness. In his chapter "The Last Things", body, soul, mind, heart, flesh and spirit are referred to. We think "flesh", has he slipped into error then? No, we see how far ahead of us he is in his Theological knowledge, and what a long way we need to go catch up.
