Author Profile: Michael LeFebvre

Gavin MacKenzie

Michael LeFebvre is pastor of Christ Church Reformed Presbyterian of Brownsburg, Indiana. He grew up in a Christian home and came to faith in childhood. Before sensing a call to the pastorate, Michael worked for several years with the Institute in Basic Life Principles as a writer and in various administrative capacities. He helped write curriculum materials, and also was privileged to collaborate closely with hymnologist Dr. Al Smith on the research and writing of hymn histories.

Believing that the Lord was calling him to the pastorate, Michael moved to Indianapolis in 1996 to study for the ministry through Second Reformed Presbyterian Church while supporting himself as a freelance business writer. He later moved to Pittsburgh to complete his M.Div. at the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary (class of 2001), and then moved to Scotland to complete his Ph.D. in Old Testament studies at the University of Aberdeen (class of 2005). His research included study in the arrangement of the Psalms, with a particular focus on the role of Psalm 1 as an introduction to the Psalter. Soon after completing his degree program, in January, 2006, Michael was ordained as a minister and has served at his present church since that time.

As much as Michael enjoyed his opportunities for formal study, he finds some of his richest theological lessons are learned in family worship, discussing catechism questions with his children. Michael and his wife Heather have been blessed with two daughters and three sons.

Michael occasionally blogs at Gentle Reformation, and his sermons are available at SermonAudio.com.
