Description

The purpose of this book is to help and encourage Christians in their battle against sin, and to ensure that they have right and biblical expectations of the ‘normal Christian life’. Many Christians live with a false burden of guilt and failure. They have been taught that the battle against temptation is futile, and that they will never be able to obey and please God. John Stevens examines the glorious promises of freedom from sin in the gospel because of the death and resurrection of Jesus. The ‘normal Christian life’ is a ‘victorious Christian life’; we are daily enjoying far more victory than we might imagine.

Endorsements

Every Christian faces temptation. It is not sinful to be tempted – Jesus was tempted – but it can be troubling and bewildering. Why do we confuse temptation with sin? Why are we vulnerable? Can we win the battle against sin? How do we overcome temptation? How do we avoid despair when we fail? This book by John Stevens addresses these questions and many more. John combines an astute grasp of Scripture with an incisive mind and a warm pastoral heart. It is suitable for Christians at any stage of maturity. As a pastor I would have loved to have this book in my hands a long time ago. It is highly recommended.

A tremendous study of the anatomy of sin and temptation in the life of the believer, both biblically and theologically. Most importantly, The Fight of Your Life is replete with ample resources pastorally to help us where these battles rage most. A worthy successor to Thomas Brooks’ Precious remedies against Satan’s devices.
