A Christian's Evangelistic Pocket Guide to Islam

Speaking to Muslims about Christianity can be an unsettling experience for the Christian. Our understanding of the Muslim faith is very limited, and their critique of the Christian faith is often unlike any we have come across. Despite the difficulties we are still called to be ready to witness. Islam is the world's fastest growing religion so Christian's are going to have to learn how to reach Muslims, and how to answer their criticisms. Malcolm draws on his experience of witnessing to Muslims, and shows how to witness effectively.
Effective witnessing depends on: 1. Getting to Grips with Islam - having some knowledge of their beliefs and practices, including the nature of Islam and some of the crucial differences. 2. Getting the Message across – knowing some of the misunderstandings Muslims have about Christianity, and the arguments they use against the Gospel and knowing how to positively present the good news of Christ. 3. Getting the Approach right - that is knowing how best to approach a Muslim and knowing what to do and say.

'…a most sensitively written work with many helpful insights for those seeking to minister to Muslims. Furthermore it gives some very valuable pointers on the practical issues of evangelising Muslims and also on helping those who convert from Islam to Christianity. This is an invaluable book for any wanting to share their faith with their Muslim friends'
Dr. Patrick Sookhdeo, Director of the Barnabas Fund
‘It is amazing how much information and experience is packed into thisgracious little book. We highly recommend it.'
British Church Newspaper (5 March 2004)
This is a very good companion to Patrick Sookhdeo’s short Pocket Guide to Islam. It will give Christians a clearer understanding of Islamic beliefs and practices. It will also help them to understand some of the misunderstandings that Muslims have regarding Christianity. These issues include the view that because of the doctrine of the Trinity, Christians believe in three gods! There is also the perception that many Muslims have, of Christianity as a Western religion. Misunderstandings like these, as well as others are dealt with by Steer. The book finishes with a couple of chapters, which will help Christians as they seek to share their faith with Muslims in the right manner. The author has lived and worked in an Islamic country for a number of years, and has since been involved in a ministry to Muslim people in the U.K. and Europe. He is therefore, ideally placed to write this work. It is a brief book, but I think it is a valuable guide for Christians to have. It should help them to be better equipped for reaching out to Muslims in society today.
