F. B. Meyer stands out as one of the key Christians in British and American history. He was a contemporary, and friend, of D. L. Moody and was involved in his ministry on both sides of the Atlantic. But that was just a small part of Meyer’s life.

More than anything Meyer was a pastor who had a knack with looking after the spiritual needs of the working class – whilst also engaging the monied classes to widen their horizons in reaching out to their fellow man.

Frederick Brotherton Meyer (1840-1929) was a well-known & gifted pastor & author. His evangelistic tours took him to South Africa, Asia & North America even when he was 80. He spent the last years of his working life as a pastor in England’s churches. Meyer was part of the Higher Life movement & often preached at The Keswick Convention. He was known as a crusader against immorality & is said to have brought about the closing of hundreds of saloons & brothels. He wrote over 40 books.

David B. Calhoun is Professor of Church History at Covenant Theological Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri. He studied with Francis Schaeffer and has led international ministry organisations in America and Europe. Among his writing credits is the definitive 2 volume history of Princeton Seminary.
